During Bob McLeaish's July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007 term of office as president of the Metro Toastmasters Club, the club brought in new members, 9 new members. It also earned the highest recognition, Presidents Distinguished Club, that Toastmasters International gives for accomplishments of the club and of the individual club members. All members are involved in earning this recognition.
Bob McLeaish, our President, 2006-2007, will be Area Governor for 2007-2008 in District 55, Area G-91, our area. At the recent training for club officers for the 2007-2008 year in Harlingen, TX, every club officer position was represented from The Metro Toastmasters Club. The club officers for 2007-2008 have begun our training in a strong way.
We have also developed our club Web Site, The Metro Toastmasters Club, McAllen, TX Web Site in the 2006-2007 year. This new web site will give us a very efficient way to continue strong communication within our club and with the general public. It was furnished by Toastmasters International as a general web site to be adaptable for use by any Toastmasters club. Our web site is such an adaptation to our Metro Toastmasters Club.
Much of the success of our club is due to the strong mix of members. We have some very accomplished members who have been in Toastmasters Clubs for decades or close to it (Phyllis Allen, Phyllis Smith, Dee Kristian, and Elain Wiese) and we have enthusiasm from brand new members. The accomplished members mentor the entire club in a way that keeps us on a successful track. The new members provide wonderfully creative ideas. Therefore we continue to have fun, learn to be more accomplished speakers and gain recognition in a comfortable and confident way. We have senior citizens, middle aged, and young members. Also we give our speeches on a vast variety of subjects.
Again, thank you, Bob, for a very successful year. We will continue the good work and continue to have fun doing so. We will be proud to say to our friends and associates that we are members of such a highly rated Toastmasters Club. We are gaining confidence in our ability to speak in front of any audiance. We are having fun with all of this and expect it to help us advance in our other endeavors.
